April Ross
April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes to have medals won at several Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo in her third Olympics medal with Alix Klineman. She is a one time Olympian. In addition, Ross hopes to win their first Olympic gold. This may be the last time she has the chance at age 39. However, she's confident that top honours are at hand. If we perform at our very best or even play very well, I think we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. In addition, I'm planning try to be a little lucky. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of athletics while she was at Newport Harbor High School. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits in her time as a college athlete. In the last sport she clearly stood out. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker, outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court according to her university bio. The award was presented to her as in the category of Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her efforts. The award also went to her in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play as of the year 2017. The reality is that Ross was already an established participant in the beach volleyball scene before Klineman and Ross joined forces. She's won big events twice, with various partners. In one of the tournaments, she is an icon of the world of volleyball. In 2007 through 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is her current coach. Along together with Kessy Ross was awarded a World Title in 2009 when she competed in the international circuit. The pair eventually captured an Olympic silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were defeated for the gold by the famous team consisting of Misty June-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). It was fate that had them. Ross got Walsh Jennings' new partner in the event that May-Treanor decided to retire. In 2016, the two won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. After graduating from high school and a couple of years before she hit the sand in her professional career, Ross played with the Trojans of USC as a collegiate. The time she spent at USC was exceptional. In 2000, she was recognized as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named she was an All-American. She also helped her Trojans reach the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss, yet she managed to make it back as an All-American. Through her final two years as a member of the Trojans they helped achieve consecutive championships. She was a great volleyball player. She won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the college's top female volleyball player. Ross was a International Relations major at USC. Sadly, Ross mom Margie didn't get to watch Ross rise to the most elite levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross lost her mother due to breast cancer back in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross is still awed by her late parent. Margie is an inspiration on the beach and in all her lives.
